International exchange students at Morro Bay High School help foster a diverse environment on our campus and is a great way for our students to learn about the experiences of others who have different cultural backgrounds.
We currently have approved international exchange students from three different organizations who are in need of host families to be able to attend Morro Bay High School in the fall. Below is their contact information to learn more!
ASSE International is a non-profit organization designated by the Department of State. We are the only J-1 high school sponsor organization that can claim full unconditional listing since CSIET's founding 37 years ago. We have students from over 50 countries, which includes tuition paying students attending private schools from over 25 of these countries. Our students are 14 to 18 years old and have all been screened for maturity, academic motivation, as well as their English ability. The majority of our students are Italian, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Thai, and Swedish. All of our students have comprehensive emergency medical insurance and have been fully vetted in their home country before arriving.
As a host family, you will receive a monthly stipend from us, to cover the cost of hosting the student. However, your most important contribution is far from monetary. It comes from your heart – a willingness to welcome this student to your country and into your home by making him or her feel like a true member of the family.
What do I need to do to be able to host?
You need to be able to provide:
3 meals a day
Furnished bedroom (with a bed to sleep and students can share a bedroom with a host sibling the same gender as long as they are not over 4 years of difference)
Study area (can be a desk and chair on their bedroom or a designated area at the house as the kitchen table)
