Dance FUSION was started in 2000/2001 school year.  The performing company is an extra-curricular activity that allows students on our campus to share their artistic talent with their school and community while enhancing their expression of dance.

 

Summer Workshop:

The dancers are required to attend a three-day workshop from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Morro Bay High the week before school starts.  The workshop entails specialized master classes and learning choreography from three different instructors.  The choreography learned at the workshop will be performed throughout the year.

Lisa Deyo – former Hubbard Street Company member from Chicago and Director of Deyo Dances

Michelle Epperheimer – Instructor at The Academy of Dance

Leticia Halas – Hip/hop instructor at Pacific Dance Center and Dellos Dance Studio

Jackie Lee – Instructor at The Academy of Dance

Dana Lossing – former Butterworth Company member from San Diego and currently an instructor at The Academy of Dance

Molly Mckiernan – Instructor at Pacific Dance Center and Dellos Dance Studio

Suzy Miller-Fuentes – Instructor at Pacific Dance Center and American Dance

Drew Silvaggio – Artistic Director of The Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo

 

Annual Spring Show:


The dancers perform two evening performances during the month of April at 7 p.m. in the small gym.

Guest Performers are from Pacific Dance Center and Central Coast Dance and Performing Arts.


Educational Performance Tour:

Every year dance FUSION goes on a dance trip to enhance their knowledge of dance.  Over the years the group has been to San Francisco and New York.

The San Francisco trips have entailed taking master classes at the San Francisco Dance Center, home of Alonso King’s LINES CONTEMPORARY and City Dance Studios.  The group also attends a dance performance and in the past, they have seen the San Francisco Ballet perform.

The Year of 2005/2006 school year, the dancers traveled to one of the greatest cities in the world, the BIG APPLE in New York City. 


The New York trip entailed:

Master classes at STEPS and Broadway Dance Center

A private class by a Broadway Dance Center instructor

A visit to Lincoln Center and Radio City Stage Door as well as other various attractions

Performing at South Street Seaport and the Cerebral Palsy Institute

Dance FUSION is planning to return to New York in the 2008/2009 school year
